Local Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 cars have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Law enforcement state they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored liquid.
The fluid had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Officers then located numerous other smeared automobiles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Officials report early analysis show the substance was likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no lead as to its origin; officials are presently not informed of any physical harm in relation with the incident," they commented.
Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to unravel the mystery" and have appealed to the residents for tips.
A high-ranking representative said the incident made him stunned and needed to be solved promptly.
"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right terrorist attack five years ago," he stated on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine people by a shooter focusing on individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
